"Paul Westlake's Archive of Exquisite Photographs"

About Me

For over twenty years I have been behind the lens for many of the world's leading magazines, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Grazia, Esquire & GQ.

Explore & acquire prints from my renowned archive. My photographs grace the homes of art collectors and adorn interior-designed spaces worldwide, including the storied Carlyle Hotel in New York.

Paul is that rare combination of Art and Commerce... I've worked with Paul on so many jobs over the years, both editorial and commercial and every time he takes the most beautiful images that not only please me but also just as importantly my editors and clients. He has a total understanding of the history of the art form which I believe is essential to making work that relates to the now. In a profession that has it's unfair share of talentless poseurs Paul is the real deal. Never boring, never stale, always 'of the time' yet 'timeless'.

I worked with Paul Westlake during my time as fashion director at Harpers Bazaar. Paul is a true professional, not only a creative and talented photographer but really fun to work with. Paul looks beyond the obvious and creates great stories with often unusual and interesting images on print and film. I can highly recommend working with him.

Photography’s emotional pull plays an equally significant part in Westlake’s appeal to the senses. He approaches his subjects with delicacy, allowing their feelings, as well as his own to guide the image’s formation. The connection between photographer and sitter is evident in his photography’s intimacy, its careful composition and the way he illuminates every scene, frequently cropping close to draw the viewer into the dreamscape he has created.

How I see it ....

PAUL WESTLAKE

Photographer

“ A photograph is like a postcard from a dream. What transpires between a photographer and his subject is something totally mysterious & engaging to me. I am still as enthralled with this process as I was on the day I began.”
